    Unemployment of a large portion of the labor force is a central problem now in almost all the underdeveloped countries. The phenomenon of chronic unemployment has become the major concern of successive Nigerian government. This book examines the currently accepted concepts and theories on surplus in underdeveloped agricultural economies, particularly in the literature on 'disguised labour unemployment'.

The author worked out a method for measuring true surplus labour, with rural South Korea as a case example.
